The Nature Reserve

The Nature Reserve’s regulations :

By government decree n°80-136 on 31st January 1980

To ensure that the maximum level of protection is provided, all human activities are prohibited. Therefore, the followings are prohibited:

  • Access to the grounds
  • Traffic
  • Parking
  • Hunting
  • Fishing
Maritime protection zone :

All motor-driven vehicles are prohibited at all times.

For non-motorised embarkation, access, traffic and parking within the reserve are prohibited between 1st November and 1st March.

Hunting is not permitted.

Shore fishing is authorised for individual family consumption only.

Note: shore fishing is not permitted on sandy shore areas for health and safety reasons (bylaw : n°179/98).

Protected land zone:

Only hunting is unauthorised.  Access is allowed.

 

Policing the environment

The Nature Reserve staff are responsible for the enforcement of regulations applicable to the nature reserve at Lilleau des Niges.  Their aim is to foster environmentally sensitive behaviour on behalf of their visitors and verbal sanctions may be used if rules are disregarded.
